IGCN Annual Gathering 2016 – “Making Global Goals Local Business”

In order to provide a platform to inspire businesses to advance the SDGs, an Annual Gathering was conducted on 4 August 2016 at Paramadina Graduate School. The topic “Making Global Goals Local Business” was a highlight and the event was attended by over 120 business leaders, UN bodies, NGOs, and academia.

“Answering SDGs can help companies to increase their own business, which can increase their own profit while developing society and environment at the same time”, said Christophe Bahuet, Country Director of UNDP Indonesia as he highlighted the relevancy of SDGs for business, following the opening remarks from the host of the event, Prof. Firmanzah Ph.D., the Rector of Paramadina University and Member of IGCN Board of Supervisors.

The agenda included:

  • Presentation on “Summary findings of the UNGC-Accenture CEO Study” by Accenture Singapore
  • “How to turn the Risks into Opportunities” by Joseph Dharmabrata, CEO of PT Trans Javagas Pipeline and member of Board of Advisor of IGCN
  • “Making Global Goals Local Business” by Y.W.Junardy, President of IGCN.
  • “Disability in the SDGs – a Volunteer’s Journey” personal experience sharing
  • “Leading the way on the SDGs” – Best practice sharing from six leading companies:
    1. “Recycling: Reducing the Impact of Electronic Waste in The Environment“ by Berry Boen, Head of Corporate Management Support PT Datascrip
    2. “Forest conservation through creation of shared value” by Dewi P Bramono, Deputy Director of Sustainability & Stakeholder Engagement Asia Pulp and Paper Group
    3. “Make Sustainable Living a Common Place – Lifebuoy Handwashing Campaign for Healthy Indonesia” by Sinta Kaniawati, General Manager Unilever Foundation, PT Unilever Indonesia Tbk
    4. “Nestle Cocoa Plan: Rural Development in Mamuju” by Debora R Tjandrakusuma, Legal & Corporate Affairs Director PT Nestle Indonesia Tbk

The programs were followed by COP & COE Recognitions, new members sign pledge, and encouragement to participate in IGCN Working Groups through ‘Hall of Fame’ exploration in the venue.
