TGE SME Deep Dive : Advancing Women’s Leadership

On February 1st, 2023, Amartha’s Director and Chief Risk of Sustainability Officer, Aria Widyanto, led the online class session as the part of agenda series to commemoration the International Women’s Day 2023. The session talked about Amartha’s action in empowering women in the context of SMEs. This session also tackled the practical aspects of implementing a holistic corporate action for gender equality, regardless of region, industry, or sector.

The online class provided participants with insights from industry experts on advancing women’s leadership, male allyship, equal pay, and achieving ambitious corporate targets for gender equality. Participants were encouraged to learn from the approaches taken by leading companies and hear about their progress towards ambitious targets set.

This course was not only informative but also practical, aiming to answer some of the most pressing concerns faced by companies, such as how to get started with limited resources, whether or not it is necessary to draft onerous policies, and which KPIs can be implemented without investing in expensive data systems. It also addressed the challenge of maintaining meaningful efforts as a company grows.

The course had four main focuses: Wellbeing & Protection, Empowerment & Inclusion, Decent & Safe Workplace, and Transparency & Accountability. With this comprehensive approach, participants gained a deep understanding of the steps needed to create a more equitable and inclusive workplace for all.

The series was continued with more topics and themes that shared by experts from various backgrounds one of which  was about “Bringing more women into the boardroom” delivered by Dinali Peiris, Group Human Resources Director MAS Holdings, Sri Lanka on 9th Feb 2023.
