The UN Global Compact and Climate Change: A Collective Call to Action

The UN Global Compact (UNGC) recognizes climate change as a critical threat to humanity and the planet. Recognizing the immense challenge, they go beyond awareness, urging businesses to take concrete action towards a sustainable future. Through various initiatives, the UNGC empowers companies to align their strategies with the Paris Agreement and limit global warming to 1.5°C.

One key initiative is the “Climate Ambition Accelerator,” which guides companies in setting science-based emissions reduction targets and transitioning to net-zero emissions by 2050. Additionally, the UNGC supports businesses in building resilience to climate impacts and advocating for ambitious climate policies through platforms like the “Business Ambition for 1.5°C” campaign. By uniting businesses under a common goal, the UNGC fosters collective action for a more sustainable future and demonstrates the vital role of the private sector in combating climate change.
