Indonesia Global Compact Network (IGCN) proudly held the Annual General Meeting & Members Gathering for 2024. This event coincided with the launch of the Forward Faster Initiative in Indonesia. This significant event occurred on Thursday, 13 June 2024, at the esteemed UNIKA Atma Jaya. The gathering was themed “Driving Companies to Move Forward Faster,” reflecting the ambitious agenda to accelerate sustainable development. The event saw an impressive turnout, bringing together 198 participants representing 96 diverse companies and organizations, including various government bodies, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and academic institutions. Moreover, the presence of 54 high-level attendees added a layer of prestige to the proceedings.
The meeting kicked off with a celebration of IGCN’s achievements in 2023. There was a heartfelt expression of gratitude towards the IGCN Board members who served from 2021 to 2024, recognizing their dedicated efforts and leadership. Among those honored were prominent figures such as Dr. (H.C.) Martha Tilaar, Prof. Emil Salim, Ph.D., Mr. Y. W. Junardy, Dr. (Hon.) Ir. Erna Witoelar, and Mr. Joe Kamdani. These individuals were specially acknowledged for their significant contributions to the network’s success and the broader sustainability movement in Indonesia.
The event featured a series of keynote speeches that underscored its importance. Prof. Yuda Turana, Rector of UNIKA Atma Jaya, delivered a compelling address highlighting the institution’s commitment to sustainable development. Ms. Gita Sabharwal, the UN Resident Coordinator in Indonesia, spoke passionately about the critical role of partnerships in achieving the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Mr. Yanuar Nugroho, Expert Coordinator at the National Secretariat of SDGs Implementation, Bappenas RI, emphasized the necessity of collaborative efforts to advance the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The gathering also outlined the IGCN Strategic Plan 2024, providing a roadmap for future initiatives. This was followed by the highly anticipated launch of the Forward Faster initiative in Indonesia. This initiative aims to accelerate businesses’ efforts in supporting the 2030 Agenda. Sixteen companies committed to raising their ambition to foster sustainable development. The commitment ceremony, marked by a live signing, was a significant event highlight, symbolizing a unified pledge towards a sustainable future.
