On November 9, the Climate Ambition Accelerator (CAA) 2023 officially closed with the Asia Track Closing session. The Climate Ambition Accelerator is a half-year acceleration initiative created to provide companies with the expertise and capabilities they need to accelerate their journey towards achieving a science-based emissions reduction goal in line with a 1.5°C trajectory. The initiative puts companies on a trajectory to reach zero emissions by 2050. The Climate Ambition Accelerator builds on the UN Global Compact’s work to develop and promote the Science Based Targets initiative, the zero-zero standard, and will contribute to initiatives such as the Race to Zero campaign.
The program, which has been implemented since July, was attended by 49 participants from 25 industrial and service companies from various sectors throughout Indonesia. The participants followed a series of lessons on Foundation, Business Case, and Implementation related to greenhouse gas reduction efforts and Science Based Target Initiatie (SBTi) both in live and on-demand sessions.
Through Global Compact Local Networks around the world, participating companies will get access to global best practices, peer-to-peer learning opportunities, capacity building sessions, and on-demand training. After participating in this learning series, participating companies are expected to be able to more easily achieve their emission reduction targets.
