The Global Africa Business Initiative (GABI) Forum, successfully held on 20–21 September 2023, gathered global leaders from various sectors for the commencement of “Unstoppable Africa”, a two-day event aimed to boost Africa’s global economic significance and position the continent as a prime destination for business, trade, and investment. The Forum provided a vital platform for Heads of State, CEOs, investors, policymakers, experts, and UN leaders to discuss and plan for Africa’s evolving business landscape. “Unstoppable Africa” underscores GABI’s steadfast commitment to reshaping Africa’s economic narrative.
As part of the annual GABI Forum, the UN Global Compact organized a High-Level Dinner co-hosted by Amina J. Mohamed, the UN Deputy Secretary General and H. E. Moussa Faki Mahamat, the Chairperson of the African Union Commission. The dinner celebrated the GABI which is the premier private sector-led global platform launched in September 2022 that galvanized African and global leaders from various sectors to amplify and accelerate Africa’s unstoppable business, trade and investment opportunities, for Africa and the world.
The dinner was embraced with the presence of special guests, Hon. Mayor Eric Adams of New York City and music icon and activist, Mr. Baba Maal, as well as approximately 200 distinguished guests of Heads of States, global dignitaries, CEOs of global organizations, and honorable speakers and moderators from the GABI Forum held prior to the dinner. Josephine Satyono, Executive Director of IGCN and Ambassador Hari Prabowo, Deputy Permanent Representative of the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Indonesia to the United Nations (PTRI) were among the guests who were present.
