The UN Global Compact Norway in collaboration with the Royal Norwegian Consulate General hosted a reception in New York during the week of the UN General Assembly with a panel discussion themed “Just and Renewable Energy Transition”. The panelists were Anne Beate Tvinnereim (Norwegian Minister of International Development), Espen Barth Eide (Norwegian Minister of Foreign Affairs), Svein Tore Holsether (CEO of Yara International), Doreen Harris (President & CEO of NYSERDA), Kjerstin Braathen (CEO of DNB), Beatriz Lutz (Patria Investments), Terje Pilskog (CEO of Scatec ASA), and Andreas Enger (CEO of Höegh Autoliners).
From the conversations, it revealed that investments in renewable energy have tripled since 2015, but mainly in already developed economies. The potential to do good business, while helping to create jobs, economic growth, and renewable energy access, all over the world is enormous. Cooperation across sectors and national borders, between actors in the private and public sectors, is key.
Attendees were from Nordic countries, Brazil, USA, and Indonesia. Indonesia was represented by Y. W. Junardy & Josephine Satyono, the President & the Executive Director of IGCN; Bani M. Mulia, the CEO of PT Samudera Indonesia Tbk; and Andi P. Rahim, the CEO of PT Global Advis Indonesia (INTERCOUNBIX).
