The ACCA Regional Workshop in Balikpapan, East Kalimantan, is the second ACCA workshop aimed at conducting a general examination at the maturity level of company anti-corruption policies, increasing awareness about corruption issues, integrating effective approaches, and identifying anti-corruption strategies to promote stronger business ethics and a code of ethics in the land-based sector. Conducted on July 20, 2023, the workshop was supported by the Indonesian Business Association (APINDO) East Kalimantan and the Indonesian Palm Oil Association (GAPKI) East Kalimantan.
With the theme of “Strengthening Integrity and Advancing Collective Action Against Corruption in Land-based Sector”, this workshop was attended by 23 participants representing 23 companies with remarks from:
- Y.W. Junardy, the president of Indonesia Global Compact Network (IGCN)
- Zoelda Anderton, the Deputy Country Manager of United Nation Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC)
- Aminuddin, the Director of the Directorate of Anti-Corruption of Business Entities, Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).
In the workshop, participants also poured in their ideas for a collective action against corruption to be implemented in the internal bodies of the company, and to be considered for the improvement of the law enforcement in Indonesia. Participants believe that by enhancing communication on the commitment of corruption prevention and eradication alongside with establishing transparent mechanisms in the government’s bureaucratic system would strengthen the effectiveness of a collective action against corruption.
