The Partnership Forum, in accordance with UN Resolution A/RES/75/290A, engaged countries, the United Nations system, including international financial institutions, as well as international organizations, parliamentarians, local governments, non-governmental organizations, the private sector, civil society, scientists, academia, women, youth and other stakeholders. The same resolution requests that the Partnership Forum be organized in consultation with stakeholders and allow interactive discussions among all stakeholders on the main theme of the ECOSOC and the High-level political forum on sustainable development (HLPF) “Building back better from the COVID-19 while advancing the full implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development”.
In view of this, the ECOSOC President has established a Multi-Stakeholder Advisory Group to the ECOSOC Partnership Forum as a consultative mechanism to prepare for the event. The group consists of 21 members from various backgrounds, and Indonesia Global Compact Network’s Executive Director, Ms. Josephine Satyono, was included as the representative of the UN Global Compact Local Network.
On 15-16 December 2021, Members of the Multi-Stakeholders Advisory Group attended a virtual two-day Expert Group Meeting (EGM) where Members provided inputs to the Partnership Forum programme, recommendations for the organization and format, and shared ideas for the promotion and mobilization of actions to be showcased at the Forum. Ms. Josephine Satyono (Executive Director at Indonesia Global Compact Network, IGCN) proposed to focus on education, including strategic investments for the future. The education sector must accelerate its efforts towards inclusive and digital education. In this regard, partnerships with academia, including business and management schools, are key in shaping the skills of future generations. Ms. Satyono highlighted the Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME) initiative. Furthermore, Ms. Satyono reminded that governments and businesses are called upon to build trust, transparency and accountability. In this regard, it is essential that ethics and integrity are prioritized during the Forum to invoke the spirit of the Tenth Principle of the United Nations Global Compact against corruption, together with the SDG 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions.
