CEO Water Mandate UNGA Corporate Water Stewardship Half-Day Event,20 September 2023 | New York
The CEO Water Mandate organized a half-day off-site event during the UN General Aseembly week in New York to engage with their network on water stewardship. It gathered a variety of stakeholders including the Mandate’s endorser representatives, sustainability managers, water professionals, partner NGO directors and managers, and government cooperation representatives. Among others, Elim Sritaba, the Chief Sustainability Officer of the Asia Pulp and Paper (APP) Sinar Mas and the Board of Founder of IGCN was present in this session as an active endorser of the CEO Water Mandate.
Transformational Governance Event: Think Lab Meeting & Legal Leadership Network Launch Meeting
The UN Global Compact Transformational Governance team organized the UN Global Compact Transformational Governance Think Lab and Legal Leadership Network Launch Meeting, which served as a collaborative working session aimed at shaping a fresh leadership platform for professionals in the fields of law, ethics, and risk management. The session was attended by IGCN’s President, Y. W. Junardy, along with participants from Baker McKenzie, Cemex, Enel, SAP, The B Team, and Oxford University.

Alongside the SDG Summit 2023 and during the UN General Assembly High-Level Week, the UN Global Compact Leaders Summit 2023 was organized on 19 September 2023 at the Javits Center, New York, which convened changemakers, business leaders, SDG stakeholders, government, and UN officials from across the globe in a series of events comprising plenary sessions, breakout discussions, activation hub, and networking sessions.
Private Sector Forum, 18 September 2023 | UN Headquarters, New York
On the first day of the UN General Assembly High-Level Week, the annual Private Sector Forum was organized by the UN Global Compact, the International Chamber of Commerce, and the UN DESA in collaboration with other supporting partners, invited heads of states, government, CEOs, and UN leaders in discussing how the private sector can collaborate to expedite the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. This year’s Forum featured the theme of “Mobilizing Business Ambition and Investments Towards the Sustainable Development Goals”. Government and business leaders in attendance made commitments to invest in actions that would drive progress towards achieving the SDGs by 2030, while also creating business growth opportunities.
UN High-Level Ocean Meeting, 18 September 2023 UN Headquarters, New York
Organized by the UN Global Compact Ocean Stewardship Coalition at the UN Headquarters, New York, the meeting brought together world leaders, heads of UN agencies, ocean industry CEOs, prominent researchers, and the finance community to determine key enablers for government and for the private sector to deliver on sustainable ocean management and on ocean-based climate solutions.
Evening Reception at the Royal Norwegian Consulate General Residence, 17 September 2023
The UN Global Compact Norway in collaboration with the Royal Norwegian Consulate General hosted a reception in New York during the week of the UN General Assembly with a panel discussion themed “Just and Renewable Energy Transition”. The panelists were Anne Beate Tvinnereim (Norwegian Minister of International Development), Espen Barth Eide (Norwegian Minister of Foreign Affairs), Svein Tore Holsether (CEO of Yara International), Doreen Harris (President & CEO of NYSERDA), Kjerstin Braathen (CEO of DNB), Beatriz Lutz (Patria Investments), Terje Pilskog (CEO of Scatec ASA), and Andreas Enger (CEO of Höegh Autoliners).
SDG Action Weekend, 16-17 September 2023 | UN Headquarters, New York
About 6,000 participants from across UN Member States, civil society, youth, local and regional governments, and the private sector convened at UN Headquarters in New York for the SDG Action Weekend which took place on 16 and 17 September 2023. The Weekend featured seven stakeholder-led mobilization segments, 12 sessions centered around the UN-led High Impact Initiatives, three special sessions and over 40 high-level side-events organized by coalitions of governments, UN entities, international organizations and global stakeholder networks, including IGCN.
