Jakarta, April 16, 2025 – Twenty-one Indonesian companies have successfully completed the UN Global Compact Network Indonesia (IGCN) SDG Ambition Accelerator 2024/2025 program, marking a significant step toward integrating the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into core business operations across diverse sectors. The closing ceremony, held on April 16, 2025, at the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) Auditorium, brought together participating companies and sustainability experts to celebrate achievements, share implementation strategies, and strengthen commitments to sustainable business practices.
“This six-month program has equipped participating companies with practical tools to set ambitious corporate targets aligned with the SDGs,” said Josephine Satyono, Executive Director of IGCN. “The companies demonstrated remarkable progress in moving beyond incremental change toward transformative action that creates business value while contributing to sustainable development.”
“The knowledge exchange between participants from different sectors created a valuable learning environment,” noted Rusiana Juniati, Corporate Strategy and Subsidiaries Management Advisor at Indonesia Stock Exchange in her opening remarks. “Furthermore, this program has also reinforced cooperation between IGCN and IDX in supporting sustainability initiatives across Indonesia’s business landscape.”
The SDG Ambition Accelerator guided companies through a structured process to assess current performance, identify risk areas, and discover new opportunities across business functions. Expert facilitators led participants through the program’s eight steps. “Embedding SDG ambitions into business operations is undoubtedly challenging, but the participants have proven it can be done,” said Dewi S. Tio, Country Manager for Indonesia at the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI). “These companies are now better positioned to address sustainability challenges while creating long-term value for their stakeholders.”
The closing session featured presentations from select participants, including Bee Well Indonesia, Indonesia Stock Exchange, PT Riau Andalan Pulp and Paper/APRIL Group, PT Samudera Indonesia Tbk, and PT Prasadha Pamunah Limbah Industri. Companies shared their experiences implementing SDG-aligned targets into their operations and the challenges they overcame throughout the process. Dr. Maria R. Nindita Radyati from the Institute for Sustainability and Agility (ISA) emphasized the importance of continuous improvement, “We should employ a trial and improve approach, continuously refining both targets and methods, as well as documenting all supporting processes needed to achieve our SDG ambitions. This iterative process is key to making sustainable progress.”
In addition to celebrating accomplishments, the session gathered feedback through an interactive survey to improve future program iterations and explore collaboration opportunities among participants. All participating companies received certificates of completion, recognizing their dedication to the 6-month program and their commitment to sustainability.
The program’s outcomes include strengthened SDG commitments, actionable post-program plans, enhanced collaboration networks, and greater visibility of successful sustainability strategies. These results position participating companies as leaders in Indonesia’s sustainability landscape and demonstrate the business case for SDG integration.
