IGCN-APINDO CEO Forum on Business & Human Rights

March 27, 2017 @ 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Business & Human Rights have now become focus, concern and commitment for private sectors together with related stakeholders and government to do sustainable business by respecting human rights in daily business operations. The “Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights: Implementing the United Nations’ Protect, Respect, and Remedy’ Framework (UNGPs)”, was approved by UN on 16 June 2011 and ratified by all countries.

Since then, UN Global Compact has put focus on raising awareness and encouraging implementation of the principles in 161 countries. The guiding principles is in line with the 10 UN Global Compact universal principles covering the areas of human rights, labor, environment and anti-corruption. Indonesia Global Compact Network (IGCN), a local network of UN Global Compact in Indonesia, has been actively promoting, facilitating, and conducting multi-stakeholders dialogues on UNGPs in cooperation with Ministry of Law and Human Rights, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, OXFAM, INFID, and European Union. IGCN Business and Human Rights Working Group (B&HRWG) was established in order to support the initiatives.

The successful implementation of UNGPs in business will require commitment of Top Management. Compliance process should be ongoing actions in the business operations. It should be embedded into the company policies and business conduct guidelines.
