In 2015, under the United Nations Sustainable Stock Exchange (SSE) Initiative, along with its partners, launched the annual event "Ring the Bell for Gender Equality" in line with International Women's Day. These events are organized as a partnership by the SSE Initiative, together with the United Nations Global Compact (UN Global Compact), The United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women), the International Finance Corporation (IFC), Women in Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) and the World Federation of Exchanges (WFEs) to raise awareness about the opportunities for the private sector to advance gender equality and sustainable development.
Indonesia Global Compact Network (IGCN), UN Women, and Indonesia Business Coalition for Women Empowerment (IBCWE) initiated a working group named 'Women's Empowerment Working Group' (WEP WG) which include companies, academia, and civil society organizations. This initiative is expected to focus on issues of business practice of WEPs with multi-stakeholders in Indonesia.
Every year, "The Ring the Bell" campaign is held in various countries. The Ring the Bell event in March 2019 in New York was succeeded by the participation of 85 stock exchanges across the globe. Women's Empowerment Working Group', with the support from International Finance Corporation (IFC), and Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) will conduct the second "Ring the Bell for Gender Equality" in Indonesia to commemorate the 2020 International Women's day.
